Indian Pub Yogurt and Mint Sauce (green sauce)
This Indian Pub Green Sauce recipe is a fresh blend of mint, greek yogurt and lemon juice, creating the perfect condiment for pairing with Indian pub favourites. Whether served as a dip or used as a marinade, this zesty green sauce adds a burst of flavour to your favourite appetizers and grilled dishes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain full-fat Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed through a garlic press
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, add the Greek yogurt.
- Wash and pat dry the fresh mint leaves. Remove the leaves from the stems and chop them very finely.
- Add the finely chopped mint leaves to the yogurt.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice and add it to the bowl.
- Peel and mince the garlic cloves or press them through a garlic press. Add the minced garlic to the mixture.
- Add kosher salt and black pepper to the bowl.
- If using, add the extra virgin olive oil for a smoother consistency and richer flavor.
- Whisk all ingredients together until fully combined and smooth.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to your preference.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, give the sauce a quick stir.
- Serve chilled as a condiment for kebabs, grilled meats, or as a dip for naan bread or vegetables.
