Indian Pub Fish Pakora Recipe

This Indian pub fish pakora recipe features succulent fish marinated in a blend of aromatic spices and coated in a chickpea flour batter before being fried to crispy perfection. Ingredients
  

  • 500g white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for deep frying (vegetable oil is fine)
For the mint chutney:
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Mix all dry ingredients for the batter in a bowl.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and enough water to make a thick batter.
  3. Coat fish pieces in the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the coated fish pieces until golden brown.
  5. For the chutney, blend all ingredients until smooth.
  6. Serve hot fish pakoras with mint chutney.

Notes
